Its a big update that SSC CGL 2016 has been postponed as most of the media reports were claiming. The Tier-I exam is expected to be conducted in the month of August 2016 and the schedule for the exam will soon be updated on the official website of SSC. We have already updated earlier that SSC may postpone the schedule of CGL 2016. Check notification at the end of post.
1. The 1st important update is that no interview will be conducted this Year by SSC. So the complete selection will be on the basis of three tier exam :
The Examination will be conducted in three tiers as indicated below:
Tier -I -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier -II -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
Tier -III -- Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification
The total marks for all the 3 Tiers will be either 600 or 800 marks depending on the post.
2. The Second big update provided by SSC is that the total vacancy for SSC CGL 2016 has been reduced to 3815 from 8930 as mentioned in the latest notification published by SSC. However, SSC has added that the current reduction in number of seats is tentative and is likely to increase. Here's what SSC said when candidates tried to seek information regarding the the current reduction:
"The Commission had hosted on its website information on the tentative vacancy position for Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2016. The tentative vacancies at the end of first round of collection of vacancies by the Commission was 3815. Some bonafide candidates have thereafter approached the Commission seeking clarification on whether 3815 is the final vacancy position for CGLE, 2016 and if so, the reasons for the reduction in the number of vacancies compared to the previous years. In response to these specific queries, it is clarified that the said vacancy position of 3815 is an interim and tentative figure, at the end of the first round. Hereafter, the number of
vacancies will go up as many major departments are yet to report their vacancy position for the said examination to the Commission. Accordingly, the final vacancy position will only be available at the time of Tier-II examination."
Further SSC has provided the tentative date for the declaration of final results of CGL 2016 which is 30th of May, 2016

The postponed schedule can be due to various reasons and one important update among these is that SSC CGL 2016 exam pattern may be changed . As interview has been cancelled this year, SSC may conduct the Tier - II exam as mains exam where the complete paper will be of subjective nature and no objective questions will be asked in Tier-II as updated by media reports. If any such confirmation is received from SSC, we will update it soon. As the SSC has decided to conduct SSC CGL 2016 exam in the month of August, 2016, the detailed schedule will be updated soon on the official website of SSC and same will be updated here. Please note that nothing has been mentioned by SSC in its notification regarding why exam has been delayed so its hard to know what would appear as a surprise from the SSC's next notification. So, we still recommend to not to go by the media reports until its updated on the official website of SSC.
The Admit cards for SSC CGL 2016 will be uploaded by the commission on the official website and the link for download of admit cards will be updated here also. The tentative schedule for download of admit cards which was last week of April is also expected to chnage. If you have forgot your registration details, check your email-id which you used for registration/ application for SSC CGL 2016. You will find the acknowledgement mail sent by SSC in your inbox. The acknowledgement slip contains registration number and password which is required for downloading the admit card and application form
