UPSC INDIAN FOREST SERVICE EXAMINATION, 2016

UPSC has released two major notifications on a single day giving a surprise to candidates preparing for country’s top examinations. For details on civil services examination, click here to read the complete details. candidates applying for Indian Forest Service examination should note that they are required to appear in the civil services (preliminary) examination and qualify the same for going to the second stage of indian forest service (main) examination (written and interview). Much of the procedure for application is similar to UPSC Civil Services Examination. However, Mains Exam pattern is different

UPSC INDIAN FOREST SERVICE EXAMINATION, 2016

LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:
The Online Applications can be filled up to 27th May, 2016 till 11.59 PM, after which the link will be disabled.

HOW TO APPLY :
Candidates are required to apply online only by using the website www.upsconline.nic.in Brief instructions for filling up the online Application Form have been given in Appendix‐II of notification

PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS :
Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers. For both writing and marking answers in the OMR sheet [Answer Sheet], candidates must use black ball pen only. Pens with any other colours are prohibited. Do not use Pencil or Ink pen. Candidates are further advised to read carefully the "Special Instructions" contained in Appendix‐III of the Notice.





AGE LIMITS : A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st August, 2016, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1984 and not later than 1st August, 1995. The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable as per the rules of government of India

Examination Fee:
Candidates applying (excepting Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/‐ (Rupees One Hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit card.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS :
(i) NATIONALITY :
A candidate must be either :‐
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS :
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Forest Service Examination, 2016 as per regulations given in Appendix‐III of the rules in the notification for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2016 published in Gazette of India dated 27th April, 2016.

PLAN OF EXAMINATION
The Indian Forest Service Examination will consist of two successive stages (vide Appendix I Section‐I of notification).
(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination; and
(ii) Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the Indian Forest Service.

Scheme and subjects for the Preliminary and Main Examination:
A. PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION :
The Examination shall comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each.
Note :
(i) Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions).
(ii) The General Studies Paper‐II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper
with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.
(iii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.
(iv) Details of the syllabi are indicated in Part A of Section III.
(v) Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances will they be allowed the help of a scribe to write the answers for them. However, Low Vision candidates (minimum 40% impairment) will be allowed to write the examination with the help of a scribe. Low Vision candidates will also be allowed an extra time of forty minutes for each paper @ twenty minutes per hour. Each paper will be of two hours duration.

B. MAIN EXAMINATION :
(A) The written examination consisting of the following papers:Paper
I General English 300 Marks
Paper II General Knowledge 300 Marks
Paper III Any two subjects to be 200 marks
Paper IV selected from the list of for each
Paper V the optional subjects set paper
Paper VI out in para 2 of notification
Each subject will have two papers.

(B) Interview for Personality Test (See Part (C) of Section II of this Appendix) of such candidates as may be called by the Commission
Maximum Marks : 300 Marks
