AIR FORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST ( AFCAT ) - 02 / 2016

Applications are invited from enterprising & adventurous Indian Citizens (men and women) as per
Citizenship Act 1955 for the following courses commencing in July 2017 for grant of Short Service
Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent / Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty Branches.

Important Dates:
Candidates are to apply only online on IAF career website www.careerairforce.nic.in from 04 June 2016 to 30 June 2016.

Last date for submission of Online applications: 30 June 2016

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:
1. Flying Branch - 202/17F/SSC/M & W
(a) Age: 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jul 2017 i.e. Born between 02 Jul 1993 to 01 Jul 1997 (Both Dates
(Upper age limit for Candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot inclusive). Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. Born between 02 July 1991 to 01 July 1997 (Both dates inclusive).
(b) Educational Qualifications: Graduates (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognised University who have attained minimum 60% marks or equivalent have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or BE / B Tech degree (Four year course) or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institute of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent.

Technical Branch - 201/17T/PC/M, 201/17T/SSC/M & W
(a) Age: 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2017 i.e. Born between 02 July 1991 to 01 July 1997 (both
dates inclusive). Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried (term unmarried excludes widower and divorcee even though without encumbrances). Marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live out with family.

(b) Educational Qualifications:
(i) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}. Candidates with minimum 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four year graduation / integrated postgraduation qualification in Engineering / Technology from recognised University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-
(a) Communication Engineering (b) Computer Engineering / Technology (c) Computer Engineering & Application (d) Computer Science and Engineering / Technology (e) Electrical and Computer Engineering (f) Electrical and Electronics Engineering (g) Electrical Engineering (h) Electronics Engineering / Technology (j) Electronics Science and Engineering (k) Electronics (l) Electronics and Communication Engineering (m) Electronics and Computer Science (n) Electronics and / or Telecommunication Engineering (o) Electronics and / or Telecommunication Engineering (Microwave) (p) Electronics and Computer Engineering (q) Electronics Communication and Instrumentation Engineering (r) Electronics Instrument & Control (s) Electronics Instrument & Control Engineering (t) Instrumentation & Control Engineering (u) Instrument & Control Engineering (v) Information Technology.

(ii) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}. Candidates with minimum 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four year graduation / integrated post graduation qualification in Engineering / Technology from recognised University or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-
(a) Aerospace Engineering (b) Aeronautical Engineering (c) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (d)
Mechanical Engineering (e) Mechanical Engineering and Automation (f) Mechanical Engineering
(Production) (g) Mechanical Engineering (Repair and Maintenance) (h) Mechatronics (j) Industrial
Engineering.

TYPE OF COMMISSION:
1. Permanent Commission : Candidates joining as Permanent Commission (PC) officers would
continue to serve till the age of superannuation.
2. Short Service Commission :
(a)The Engagement period for SSC Flying Branch is Fourteen years from the date of Commissioning
(Not extendable).
(b) The initial tenure for Short Service Commission officers in Technical and Ground Duty Branches
would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to willingness,
service requirements and availability of vacancies

Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations may apply for all courses commencing in July 2017 provided they fulfil the following conditions:-
(a) Candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 60% marks upto the last semester / year for which results have been declared at the time of online submission and at the time of SSB.
(b) Candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificate issued by University
latest by 15 June 2017.

PAY AND ALLOWANCES:
Pay and Allowances:- Flying Officers will be entitled to Pay in Pay Band of  Rs. 15,600 - 39,100 per month along with Grade Pay, Military Service Pay, Dearness Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance, Transport Allowance. In addition, other allowances are applicable based on nature of duty / place of posting and would include Flying Allowance, Technical Allowance, Field Area Allowance, Special Compensatory (Hill area) Allowance, Special Force Allowance, Siachin Allowance, Island Special Duty Allowance, Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer Allowance, Hard Area Allowance and Remote Locality Allowance. On successful completion of Training, the newly Commissioned Flying Officers would be entitled to approximate gross monthly emoluments in different branches including Transport Allowance of major cities as follows:-
(a) Flying Branch:- Rs. 82,050/-
(b) Technical Branch:-  Rs. 71,550/-
(c) Ground Duty Branches :- Rs. 68,550/-

Benefits:- In addition to the Pay & Allowances, Officers are entitled to Furnished Accommodation, Comprehensive Medical Cover for self and dependants, Leave Travel Concession, Leave (60 days Annual and 20 days Casual) subject to service exigency, supply of entitled rati
ons, canteen & Officers’ Mess facilities and many more.
Insurance: - Rs. 50 Lakh Insurance Cover (on contribution) is applicable to serving officers.
Additional cover of  Rs. 10 Lakh (on contribution) is applicable to Flying Branch Officers.
