Jammu University Recruitment for Assistant Professor Posts

Jammu University invites applications from the eligible candidates for the posts of Assistants Professor one each in the following Departments under the General Development Assistance Scheme during the XII Plan Period to be engaged on contractual basis upto 31.03.2017 in the following subjects:

1. Commerce (Accounting & Financial Management) - 01 post

2. Computer Science - 01 post

3. Department of Lifelong Learning (Rural Development) - 01 post

4. Directorate of Distance Education (Sociology) - 01 post

5. Education - 01 post

6. Environmental Science (Toxicology/Environmental Chemistry) - 01 post

7. Home Science - 01 post

8. Psychology - 01 post

9. School of Biotechnology (Molecular Biology/Immunology/Animal Biotechnology)

10. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management - 01 post

11. Sports and Physical Education - 01 post

12. Statistics - 01 post

Total vacancy: 12 posts 

Last Date:  Application form complete in all respects must reach the Office of the Assistant Registrar (Adm/TW), Administration Block-1, University of Jammu, Jammu on or before August 19, 2016

Salary: As per UGC norms

Qualification details:

1. Assistant Professor

i. Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

ii. NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. degree in compliance of the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges /  Institutions. Further, the award of degrees to candidates registered for the M.Phil./Ph.D programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordiances/By laws/ Regulations of the Institution awarding the degrees and the Ph.D. canidates shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of “NET/ SLET/ SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Univesities/ Collges/ Institutions subject to the production of MSP Certificate as per the conditions laid down by the UGC (3rd Amendment) Regulations, 2016.

iii. NET /SLET/SET shall not be required for such Masters Degree Programme in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET accredited test is not conducted

Desirable:

3. Department of Lifelong Learning:- Rural Development

4. School of Biotechnology:- Molecular Biology/ Immunology/Animal Biotechnology

2. FOR TEACHING FACULTY IN HOSPITALITY & TOURISM MANAGEMENT:

1. First Class Master’s Degree in MBA (Hospitality & Tourism) /MTM/MTA/MBA or in an allied

subject. Administration or first class in two year full time PGDHM/Administration or equivalent by AIU / accredited by the AICTE / UGC;

OR

First Class graduate and professionally qualified Charted Accountant / Cost and Works Accountant / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory bodies.

Desirable:

1. Teaching, research, industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization;

2. Papers presented at Conferences and / or published in refereed journals.

3. NET/SET/Ph.D. in Management/allied discipline.

Besides the prescribed qualification mentioned above, the criteria for selection of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor is indicated below:-

(a) Academic Record and Research Performance (50%)

(b) Assessment of Domain Knowledge and Teaching Skills (30%)

(c) Interview performance (20%).

General Instructions:

1. The candidates selected and invited for interview will have to present themselves for interview at their own expenses.

2. The candidates are advised to write their names strictly as per Matriculation/ Higher Secondary

Certificates

3. Application form found incomplete in any respect shall be rejected without any notice.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE ATTACHED WITH THE APPLICATION FORM:

1. Assistant Professor

a) Self attested copies of all qualification Certificates from 10th onwards.

b) A Self addressed envelope bearing postage stamp worth Rs. 50/-

c) Reservation category Certificate, in case of reserved positions.

d) However, candidates seeking exemption from NET/SLET/SET are required to produce a bona-fide certificate from the concerned University(s) to the effect that the said candidate have been awarded PhD. Degree in conformity with the UGC Regulations i.e. all the conditions laid down in University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for Award of PhD. Degree) Regulations, 2009 are satisfied by them at the time of submitting their PhD, thesis).
