GATE 2017

The notification for the India’s top most Engineering Examination, GATE 2017, for Masters in Technology has been released. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of the candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and post-graduate level subjects in Science. GATE Score is not just used for admission in Masters in Technology, it’s also used by Public and private sector companies for recruitment purposes. India’s most of the public sector companies anre recruiting candidates on the basis of GATE Score. The important dates have been announced for GATE 2017 and the details about the exam are given below. The very first question among candidates are interested about is: Who is the organizing authority? The answer is IIT Roorkee will canduct the GATE 2017 and most of you might be aware that every organizing Authority i.e each of IITs are known for their speciality in particular subjects in Enginneering. So, pick previous year papers set by IIT Roorkee and find out what was the level of difficulty and the most difficult topics asked in those years’ question papers. This way most of you can have a fair idea of  challenges that IIT Roorkee can pose before you. So, here are the important dates:





Schedule/ Important Dates for GATE 2017:
1.GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) Website Opens for Enrollment, Application Filling, Application Submission:  September 1, 2016 (Thursday)
2. GATE 2017 Online Examination Dates: February 4 – 5, 2017 & February 11 – 12, 2017  (Saturdays and Sundays only)
3. Last Date for Submission of Online Application through Website: October 4, 2016 (Tuesday)
4. Last Date for Request for Change in the Choice of Examination City via GOAPS login: November 16, 2016 (Wednesday)
5. Availability of Admit Card on the Online Application Interface for printing: January 5, 2017 (Thursday)
6. Announcement of Results on the Online Application Website: March 27, 2017 (Monday)         

Age Limit : No age limit for GATE 

Application fee:
 For Women/ SC/ ST/ PWD candidates: Rs. 750
For all other candidates: Rs. 1500
For GATE international candidates: US dollars 50

Important Instructions for GATE 2017:
1. The candidates shall use ONLY virtual calculator to be provided by GATE. Physical calculator, mobile phone and wrist watches with calculation facility are strictly prohibited and candidates possessing these in the examination hall (even if not using) shall be disqualified.

2. GATE 2017 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon sessions on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th February 2017. Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2017 will be held in multiple sessions. Exact details regarding complete examination schedule will be notified at a later date, on the GATE 2017 website.

3. The payment of application fees would be through electronic mode; online as well as through payment at bank counters using e-challan.

4. The admit cards for GATE 2017 would be available through the online process only. NO printed copy of admit cards shall be sent by post to the candidates

5. NO candidate shall be allowed to enter the examination hall (however, the Center gate shall be closed 25 minutes after start of the examination) after 30 minutes of the start of the examination.

6. Types of Questions: The GATE examination shall be of 3 hours duration with a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper for GATE 2017 will consist of questions of both multiple-choice type and numerical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, candidates have to choose the answer from the given choices. For numerical answer type questions, candidates have to enter a number as the answer using a virtual keypad

Application Procedure: Candidates need to apply online. No other mode of application will be accepted.
