Airtel Announces New Plan against JIO's Dhan Dhana Dhan offer

Airtel counters Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer with new Rs 399 prepaid plan offering 70 days validity. Airtel is offering unlimited voice calling and 70GB 4G data for 70 days with its new Rs 399 plan

Airtel has announced a new prepaid plan to counter Jio's recently introduced 'Dhan Dhana Dhan plan'. The company has reportedly announced a new Rs 399 prepaid plan that offers unlimited calls and 1GB 4g data per day with a validity of 70 days. The plan is likely limited to certain circles and will be available to select subscribers using Airtel's 4G SIM on a 4G handset. Bharti Airtel was the first telecom service provider to criticise Jio's Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. Airtel said Jio's Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is similar to Summer Surprise Offer, which was stalled by TRAI.

Under Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, a one-time recharge of Rs 309 gives 1GB data per day to its Prime customers who have already recharged with one-time fee of Rs 99. Under this plan, Jio Prime members also get existing benefits like free voice calls, unlimited SMS and access to Jio apps. Prime members can also recharge with Rs 509 to get 2GB free data per day.

"We are surprised to see what Jio is doing. It violates the spirit of the TRAI directive and essentially continues with a similar plan now masquerading under a different name," an Airtel spokesperson had recently said about Jio's new offer.

Airtel's new plan comes after the company introduced Rs 345 plan in March to counter Jio's Prime offer. With the new Rs 399 prepaid offer, Airtel is trying to offer benefits similar to that Jio's Dhan Dhana Dhan offer and thus retain its existing subscribers.
