J-K: Two terrorists killed in Nathi Pora of Sopore

Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Natipora area of Sopore at around 3.30 am.




Srinagar, Jun 1: Two terrorists were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants who were believed to have been holed up in a house at Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on early morning on Thursday. Meanwhile, as per the latest reports, the firing is still underway.
The security forces have recovered two AK-47, five magazines, 107 live rounds, two pouches, Rs 2000 cash, two rubber stamps and paraphernalia from the two terrorists.
According to PTI, the troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and local police launched a cordon-and-search operation in Nathi Pora area of Sopore at around 3.30 am after receiving information about the presence of militants there, a police official said.



During the searches, the militants, believed to be two in number, opened fire on the forces, triggering the gun-battle, he said.
Earlier on Wednesday, four police personnel were injured in an attack by militants in the Sopore of Jammu and Kashmir near a branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
This comes almost a week after Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, a top Hizbul commander and successor of Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with security forces in Tral of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir.
On Sunday, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir and gunned down one terrorist. This came a day after the Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt in Rampur sector of Uri and killed six terrorists. If sources close to the Army are to be believed, it was the second biggest infiltration attempt foiled in the last one week.



The Army had killed two members of Pakistan s Border Action Team (BAT) on Friday in Uri of North Kashmir. Last week, the Army had also killed four infiltrators in Nowgam sector of Kupwara district. This encounter lasted for two days and three soldiers were martyred in it.
According to reports, a total of 12 terrorists have been killed in last six days in encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
