NEW DELHI/SRINAGAR: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted raids at 14 places in Kashmir and eight in Delhi in connection with terror funding in the Valley.
The NIA raided the residence of Kashmiri separatist Nayeem Khan, who in a sting operation had confessed to getting money from Pakistan to promote terror activities in the Valley.
Around eight hawala dealers and traders in the national capital were also raided, official sources said.
Among those raided were close aides and kins of hardline separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani and others in the Hurriyat Conference.
Two places in Sonepat were also being searched by the NIA teams in this connection.

The NIA raids come after its questioning of three Kashmiri separatists - Farooq Ahmad Dar alias 'Bitta Karate', Nayeem Khan and Javed Ahmed Baba alias 'Gazi' of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat - on May 29 in a case related to the funding of terror and subversive activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The NIA had last month named Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba chief Hafeez Saeed, hardline Kashmiri separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Jammu and National Front chairman Nayeem Khan in a preliminary enquiry (PE).
The case is based on a sting operation in which Nayeem Khan was purportedly shown confessing to receiving money from Pakistan-based terror groups through hawala channels.
Nayeem Khan had been expelled from the Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference in the wake of the sting operation.
Terror funding in Valley
According to an estimate of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Pakistan-based terror groups finance terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir by generating millions in donations through their charity organisations.
Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF), a charity run by terror outfits Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Al Rehmat Trust, backed by another terrorists group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), have been supporting terrorists and funding terrorism in Kashmir.
These outfits collect donations from people in Pakistan and then pass on the money to finance terrorism in Kashmir through their over ground workers, an NIA official has said.
'Al Rehmat Trust' distributes pamphlets to raise funds for sacrificing animals during Eid and after collecting the money, they finance terrorism.
FIF, one of the major and fastest growing Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in Pakistan, also collects money from people and uses them to fund terrorists.
The groups collect millions of dollars in donations through crowd funding in the name of social service, the officer said.
According to a 2012 report of an intelligence agency, 780 million Pakistani rupees were collected for funding terrorism in Kashmir.
