Terror funding case: NIA conducts fresh raids in J&K

The NIA today carried out fresh raids across J&K in a terror funding case.NIA raids continue against Hurriyat leaders, at three locations of Srinagar and one in Jammu, ANI said.According to news agency, Geelani's close aide Azaz Akbar's house was raided this morning.


NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out fresh raids across Jammu and Kashmir in a case involving terror funding meant to fuel unrest in the valley.
"NIA raids continue against Hurriyat leaders, at three locations of Srinagar and one in Jammu," news agency ANI said citing sources on Sunday.
According to ANI, Syed Ali Shah Geelani's close aide Azaz Akbar's house was raided early morning today.



Yesterday, NIA chief Sharad Kumar had told TOI that said 22 locations, including 14-15 in Kashmir and seven in Delhi, were raided since early morning.
The raids follow days after NIA converted a preliminary enquiry into the terror funding, allegedly involving Hurriyat leaders, into a regular case
"The searches have so far led to the recovery of cash amount of over Rs 1.15 crore, property-related documents, letterheads of banned terrorist organisations such as LeT and HM, pen-drives, laptops, and other incriminating documents," an NIA spokesperson had said.
Prominent among those who were raided by the NIA on Saturday were Hurriyat Conference (G) leader, Altaf Ahmad Shah alias Altaf Funtoosh at Qamarwari, Salvation Movement chairman Zaffar Akbar Bhat at Bagh-e-Mehtab, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) senior leader Noor Muhammad Kalwal at Nowgam, National Front (NF) chairman Nayeem Khan at Ibrahim Colony Natipora, JKLF (R) leader Farooq Dar alias Bitta Karatay at Guru Bazar Shaheed Gunj and Hurriyat (M) Media Advisor Shahid-ul-Islam at Sanat Nagar.



The businessmen whose houses were raided include Zahoor Ahmad Watali at Barzullah, Raja Zahoor Khan at Hyderpora, Muhammad Sultan Tangnuu at Azad Basti Natipora, Nazir Ahmad Mir alias Nazir Gas at Shamsabad Batamaloo, Farooq Ahmad Wani at Shamsabad Batamaloo, Muhammad Sultan Chandu at Natipora and Retired Dr Bashir Ahmad Bhat at Sheikhul Aalam Colony Nowgam.
