Like the network, JioPhone will possibly see a high demand. As per a latest report, Reliance Jio is expected to ship over 50 million JioPhones in the three months to the country. The report states, "Reliance Jio is going to bring in five crore JioPhones to India which it plans to sell in three months. The first few batches of the shipment have already arrived in India and at present are being dispatched to stores, "the report cites a source working close with Jio. "Jio is also ready with plan B if the uptake of JioPhone is not as per expectation. The company will come with another offer," further adds the report.
About the price, the JioPhone is effectively free of cost - Rs 'zero' in Mukesh Ambani's term. But, the customers will have to pay Rs 1500 as security deposit which will be refundable after 36 months on return of the phone. The customers will also have to take a plan of Rs 153 plan per month.
In terms of the confirmed specifications, the JioPhone comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera, 2.4-inch QVGA display, and a microSD slot for storage expansion. The phone is expected to be in two variants - one with dual SIM slot, and another one with single SIM slot. Further, about the processor, both Qualcomm and Spreadtrum confirmed that they have partnered with Jio to power the JioPhone. This probably makes it quite evident that JioPhone may come in two variants. However, the company is yet to confirm on the same.
