It's a big gift from Narendra Modi government to Muslim girls

According to media reports, meritorious Muslim girls completing graduation before their marriage will get a special gift from Narendra Modi government. This gift is Rs 51,000. The report adds that the Muslim girls will get the Rs 51000 gift amount under the ‘Shaadi Shagun’. This scheme is aimed at incentivising higher education among minority groups.Reportedly, the proposal was put forth by Maulana Azad Education Foundation and it has now been cleared by the Ministry of Minority Affairs of Narendra Modi led Central government. Noteworthy, the minority scholarships for weaker sections in the minority communities were started during BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee regime in the year 2003.
All girls students availing Begum Hazrat Mahal scholarships funded by the Maulana Azad Foundation are eligible to apply for this scheme.
Earlier, BJP’s Muslim leaders had urged backward sections of the community to embrace Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “pro-poor” policies.
Making a distinction between backwards and others among Muslims, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had said the poor Muslims have been unable to take advantage of the welfare schemes for minorities and claimed that Modi’s “pro- poor” policies will uplift them.

Modi had asked leaders at the party’s national executive meeting in Bhubaneswar to reach out to the backward Muslims, saying they will also benefit from his government’s bill that seeks constitutional status for the OBC Commission but was stalled by opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha
