How to apply for Domicile Certificate

J&K government has started an e-portal for submission of application for Domicile Certificate. You can check who is applicable to apply for domicile certificate in J&K. Here are the steps you need to follow to apply for a new domicile certificate:

1. First of all, register as a citizen. Remember your security question and answer while registering which will be helpful incase you forget your password. 

2. After filling the correct details, click on 'preview' and then 'submit' the application form. 

3. After successful submission, you will receive a password with your entered username.



4. Login with your username and password. Select Role as 'Citizen'. After login, you will be asked to change your password. 

5. After login, select E-services and then Click on 'General Administration Department'. Click on 'Application for Domicile Certificate'

How to apply for Domicile Certificate



6. A new page will open. Fill the form and click on preview and submit the details. You will need your adhaar card number and scanned copies of the relevant documents which are required to be uploaded. Remember size of each document to be uploaded should not be more than 250 Kb. You will get an application number after submission. Save the application and you are done. 

As the number of applicants are quite large in number, the website displays a server error too often, specifically when you login. Keep trying and you will be able to submit your application.

    1. After submitting application, you will get an application number which can be used to check the application status. In general, the domicile certificate should be issued within 15 days of application as per the government rules

    1. In 15 days, you will get the status of your domicile certificate and finally the certificate itself on the portal. All you need to do is to log in and search the application by application number
